The Zamboanga Chong Hua High School will be celebrating its 90th Foundation Anniversary on November 12, 2009 with the theme “Building on Tradition, Pursuing New Heights”. Several activities have been lined up in line with the celebration. The festivities kicked off last November 9 with the Intramurals ’09, which lasted until November 11.
This year’s 90th Foundation Anniversary celebration sets off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the morning of November 12 for the different exhibits featuring the school’s history photos and students’ works. A grand 90th Foundation Anniversary parade is scheduled in the afternoon at 3pm followed by followed the releasing of 90 chinese wishing lanterns.
In the evening, the ZCHHS Board of Trustees will be hosting the school’s 90th Anniversary Gala as well as the induction of its new set of officers at the Garden Orchid Hotel. To kick off Chong Hua’s Grand Alumni Homecoming celebration, a beach-themed “Lauriat Night” Party on November 13, 2009 will be held at the ZCHHS campus just after the highlighted lantern parade for all alumni and their families, teachers, guests and school officials. The said event is for all alumni to reunite and renew common ties and vision. It promises to be a night of nostalgia where alumni can turn back the years and reminisce their good old high school days. A thanksgiving mass will be held at St. Joseph Church in Nuñez St from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on November 14, Saturday.
On November 15, a short merriment program is scheduled in the morning to honor this year’s Jubilarians, followed by a colorful field demonstration which will be participated by kinder and elementary pupils to be held at the school quadrangle. On the same day, a general assembly and election of ZCHHSAA directors will be held at the auditorium followed by a luncheon. The induction of officers and Board of Directors & Fellowship Night will be held at the Astoria Regency Convention Center in Pasonanca at 5:30pm. This year’s recipients of ZCHHSAA Golden Plum Award is Mrs. Rosalind L. Wee, Most Oustanding Golden Jubilarian Awardee Mr. Yu Kiat Bin and Most Outstanding Silver Jubilarian Awardee Evelyn Quindo-Bugayong.
The success of the celebration will not be possible without the honorees for this year: Class ’54 (Diamond Jubilee), Class ’59 (Golden Jubilee), Class ’64 (Sapphire Jubilee), Class ’69 (Ruby Jubilee), Class ’74 (Coral Jubilee), Class ’79 (Pearl Jubilee) and Class ’84 (Silver Jubilee); not to overlook the efforts of the 2009 ZCHHSAA Officers and Board of Directors headed by the President Mrs. Araceli Wee.
